The other day I was on the golf practice range working on my new swing changes. I overheard the conversation between a father and a college golfer that was hitting balls next to me. It sounded like he had a tournament in the next few days. The college golfer seemed frustrated with the way he was hitting the ball and he was trying to find a quick fix.
This college golfer seemed so lost trying all kinds of tips trying to fix his swing. This is the way I used to practice and the way that most golfers practice, trying all types of tips and fixes in hope something will get them hitting the ball better. Do you think this is how Tiger Woods or other good golfers practice? Heck no, they have a structured system with a good instructor and there is no mystery to what a pro needs to do.
Why would the average golfer not want the same system? Why wouldn’t the average golfer develop a system to take the mystery out of the golf swing and allow them to see constant improvement like the pros? I now understand the two sides of the coin because I once tried to improve my golf game like this college golfer and average golfers but now I improve my game like the pros. Let me tell you my system is much easier and I constantly see improvement.
Developing a swing improvement system is not easy but it can be done for any golfer. To develop the most efficient system the golfer needs to understand how to most efficiently use their time. This means efficiently using any spare moment to progress the change of muscle memory and mental perception. The golfer also needs to have a understanding of muscle memory and what it takes to make a lasting change in a golfers swing.
Almost all golfers except the pros don’t understand this. They are just like this college golfer spinning his wheels on the range trying to find something he feels comfortable with to get him through the tournament.
This college golfers swing was fair but there were some things that he would need to change for him to reach a higher level of play. The changes would take some time, money and organization but if he is going to spend hundreds of hours on the range practicing just like he was doing, he should at least make it productive and fun.
You only live once so if you are going to play golf why would you not want to give it your best shot. Most golfers will never reach their true potential with their current practice system. The 180 Degree Golf System
Aaron Boone is a professional golfer who almost gave up playing golf. Then he developed The 180 Degree Golf System which allows him to see constant improvement every time he plays and practices. Improve your game for life! http://www.180golf.net
Public Relations for College Districts So often College Districts get a negative connotation in a community due to the increased crime they generate. Most of the crime is not real bad mostly kids screwing around, although some is indeed problematic to local crime statistics. Golf Stretching Exercises For Shoulders To achieve a more consistent swing, golf stretching exercises for shoulders can help. Why You Never Get Better At Golf Are you tired of your golf scores? When was the last time you saw any improvement in you game? There are a lot of books out there on the wonderful game of golf but not too many are worth keeping and reading again. You will notice there are no instruction manuals in our list, because trying to learn how to play golf from a book is like trying to become a great lover by reading an illustrated magazine on self-abuse. Also, best means most enjoyable either because of their excellence or excrescence.
The Rub of the Green, William Hallberg
Often mysteriously overlooked but, with the exception of PG Wodehouse, the only good novel featuring golf ever written. Its hero goes to gaol but dreams of turning the prison swamp into a great two-hole course trouble is, he needs the help of the frankly mad and disordered ground staff to realise the dream.
I laughed until I wet myself. Her Majesty the Queen.
The greatest Game Ever Played, Mark Frost.
The story of how an unknown American amateur, Francis Ouimet, took on two of the games greats Harry Vardon and Ted Ray in the US Open; matched them for 72 holes and then beat them in the playoff. So well-written (by a man who really knows his craft) and absorbing that you forget you know the ending.
An achingly beautiful and yet powerful homage to the indomnitable spirit of the down-trodden lumpen proletariat, evoked in a lyrical paean of sensitivity, encapsulating all that is esoteric but vibrantly alive in the unending quest of the individual to rise above the circumstances of his birth. Lee Westwood.
My autobiography, Bernhard Langer
The title is the most original thing about it and it takes true genius to make a life as rich and interesting as Langers read like a recipe for beans on toast. Ghost-written by a man described as a writer and a director of Christians in Sport. The second part of the description may be true, the first definitely isnt. It starts with the words: I was born in Anhausen, near Augsberg in Southern Germany on 27 August 1957, and then gets really dull.
The world is full of books, and this is one of them. Arnold Palmer.
Four-iron in the Soul, Lawrence Donnegan
A season as a Tour caddie (to Ross Drummond, and whatever happened to him?) The ideas been done before, but not by someone with Donnegans eye for detail, sharp observation and wit. Full of great anecdotes did you know that Al Capone cheated at golf and greater characters.
Say that about me again and Ill deck you. Blind-boy, Pirate, Dustbin-Legs, Road-Runner McGhee, caddie to the stars.
Tarbuck on Golf, Jimmy Tarbuck
No, of course not just wanted to make sure you were paying attention.
Shome mishtake shurely, Sean Connery.
Nice Jumper, Tom Cox
As Neil Sedaka almost said, growing up is hard to do. But if you become obsessed by a nerdy game, which means that everyone else at school thinks youre the un-coolest thing since permed hair for boys, adolescence becomes a torturous journey in which all you do is play with your balls. The difference is, all your mates are doing it in the privacy of their bedroom while youre out in public, striding the fairways.
He could have my babies any time. Laura Davies.
Bud, Sweat and Tees, Alan Shipnuck
The story of the 2002 US PGA champion Rich Beem, never knowingly confused with a mild-mannered, teetotal, sexual hermit, and his even more outrageous caddie, Steve Duplantis. Its Tin Cup made real but without the irritation of Kevin Costner.
He could have my babies any time. John Daly.
Strokes of Genius, Thomas Boswell
Thoughtful, beautifully-written essays on the enduring and eternal appeal of golf, the landscapes over which it is played and the people who play it at the highest level. What more do you want?
I liked the bit where the big shark ate all the tourists. Sandy Lyle.
Fairways and Greens, Dan Jenkins
An anthology (that means collection Lee) by the best golf journalist still working. Jenkins is American, old, irascible, bad-tempered and very funny. He cut his teeth writing about Ben Hogan for a local Texas newspaper and followed the miserable bastard for the rest of his glorious career, taking in every Major and big star since. No respecter of reputation, he tells the truth and can be forgiven anything including his love of playing golf from a motorised buggy.
Its got a lot of words, hasnt it? Robbie Williams.
The Modern Fundamentals of Golf, Ben Hogan
Okay, well break our own rules on no instruction books because this is, simply, the best ever written, by one of the greatest players to squint into the sun trying to decide if its a 6 or 7-iron to the green. Hogan was plagued in his early years by a vicious hook and learnt almost all he knew about golf by hitting balls and thinking about the results before hitting some more his practice routine made Vijay Singh look like a layabout. Larry Nelson was one of many to learn the game entirely from this book and went on to win three Majors and his first nine Ryder Cup matches on the bounce. And even if you never read the thing, you should have a copy on your bookshelves.
a) to suggest you know something about the game
b) in homage to the great man.
I wouldnt touch it with a bargepole, Randy Huckenputz, 53 handicap.
In Search of the perfect golf club, Tom Wishon (with Tom Grundner)
Lets face it, golf equipment is too technical, were all baffled by bullshit and manufacturers shovel it towards us by the bucketful. The net result is that we spend far too much money on clubs that are ill-suited to our swing and game, persisting in the delusional belief that we can buy better scores. Thats the bad news. The good news is that you can improve with the right equipment (but rarely with off the shelf clubs), and this book tells you exactly how to find it. The author has credentials and inside knowledge up to here but most importantly, never forgets that hes talking to technical morons, and therefore makes the study of equipment easy and understandable. You should never spend more than 10 on a piece of golf equipment without first reading this book.
My coefficient of restitution has never been better. Tiger Woods
Decisions on the Rules of Golf, The R&A and USGA
No, really, this is truly an excellent book and one that will give you hours of harmless fun. We all find the Rules incomprehensible but this at least helps understand not only the laws themselves but the rationale behind some of the dafter things we can and cannot do on the golf course. It is astonishing the sort of questions that people ask our legislators. For example, someone enquired: If an opponent or fellow competitor is asked to attend the flagstick and refuses, do I have any redress? (which we interpret to mean: Can I thump him?) and was told No. It conjures up all sorts of images of feuding golfers having a bad tempered match to the point where one rejects the suggestion that he should hold the flag and the other gets so het up about it that he asks his club secretary to write to the R&A.
Doh! Homer Simpson.
The Golf Omnibus, PG Wodehouse
The master of all humourous golf writers, Wodehouse has been oft imitated but never bettered. He has introduced us all to the idea of a golfer being disturbed by the uproar of butterflies in an adjoining meadow; that a man can hold in contempt only three things slugs, poets and caddies with hiccups; and of another folding his beloved into his arms, using an interlocking grip. The language is a delight and this is a rarity among golf books in that it can be dipped into and re-read time and again with no loss of pleasure, to be reminded, among other things, of the group of golfing rabbits who held another player in high esteem because he once broke 90.
it ws nt rlly my srt of thng if u no wot I mean (via text), Michelle Wie
Getting to the Dance Floor, Al Barkow
The past is a different country and they did things differently there, as this enjoyable book so vividly tells us. It describes the earliest days of the US PGA Tour, where it was a struggle for even the best to simply survive, by the simple expedient of talking to them. Many such as Sam Snead, Byron Nelson and Gene Sarazen will be familiar but many others Bill Spiller, Errie Ball and Leo Fraser, less so. Nevertheless, they all have fascinating stories to tell about life on Tour before endorsements, sponsorship deals, courtesy cars and golf groupies had been invented.
Grrr, Tommy Thunder Bolt

The basis of golf begins with an understanding of what exactly must happen in a good golf stroke. I call this, “The Basis Of Golf.”
Good golf MUST comply with the laws of force and motion. We obey these laws everyday of our lives without even knowing it. When you get up out of bed, jump into your car, open a door eveything we do is in full compliance with these laws.
1. Three parts of a Golf Club
1. Clubshaft
2. Clubface
3. Clubhead
2. Three Major Concepts of the Golf Stroke
1. Inclined Plane - Clubshaft
2. Hinge Action - Clubface
3. Centrifugal Force - Clubhead
3. Three Essentials For a Good Golf Stroke
1. Steady Head
2. Balance
3. Rhythm
4. Three Imperatives For a Good Golf Stroke
1. Flat Left Wrist at Impact
2. On Plane Club Shaft
3. Club Head Lag
5. The Principle of the Golf Game -
Line of Compression:
Hitting the ball from the inside of the target Line toward the outside of target with a Flat Left Wrist
6. Three Dimensions of the Golf Stoke - (on an Inclined Plane)
1. Downward
2. Outward
3. Forward
Once you have recognized and incorporated the above into your golf stroke you WILL start hitting the ball farther and straighter.

Visualization techniques help improve your game. All good players do it, whether consciously or unconsciously. PGA pros, for example, visualize every shot they take. Its the key to their success. I also encourage it in my individual golf instruction sessions. Below are a couple of visualization techniques that Ive written about in my golf tips.
To improve your scores quickly, try developing a good mental picture of your swing. Too many recreational golfers have a poor mental picture of their swing. Hence, their swings look awkward and disjointed.
This awkward, disjointed swing isnt solely the players fault. Its also the fault of the way we teach golf. When I give golf lessons, I often work on individual elements of the swing, breaking it down into discrete parts so we can focus on correcting it.
Recently, for example, I worked with a player on completing a full shoulder turn before initiating her downswing. We worked on it for a couple of sessions. You can bet she thought of her shoulder when she played her next round.
This approach, as golf instruction techniques go, works well. However, it encourages you to think of your swing piece-meal, instead of as one fluid motion. When we practice, we also encourage the piecemeal picture of our swing by focusing on correcting individual swing faults one at a time, instead of concentrating on rhythm and tempo.
There are two basic components to your swing: your trunk, supported by your legs and feet, and the unit of your hands, arms, and shoulders. Your trunk moves on a fairly horizontal plan. Your hands, arms, and shoulders, on the other hand, move on a relatively vertical plane. The trunk is the hub of your swing, around which the hands, arms, and shoulder component moves.
A good way to think of this is arrangement is to imagine your trunk turning within the confines of a barrel, while the club moves up and down along the rim of the wheel. As your body rotates to the right (for right handers), the clubhead moves up along the rim of the wheel to the top of your backswing. As your body rotates to the left, your club moves down the rim of the wheel and back up the other side as you complete your follow-through.
In reality, your swing is not a perfect circle, since the dynamics of motion require you to change planes. Nor does your trunk move in perfect rotation. You have to have a slight lateral motion to the left. But the barrel concept is a fairly good way of thinking about your swing as a whole. It encourages the major components to work together in harmony.
Another technique that can help your swing is visualizing the type of shot you want to hit. Establish a pre-flight target line in your mind before addressing the ball. Retain this image when hitting. Then, try copying it with your actual ball flight. This visualization technique forces you to think about the target line, not your mechanics.
However, if you have to think about something during your swing, try thinking about a phrase promoting a smooth takeaway. Slow and easy or slow and smooth are good swing thoughts. Anything that produces a nice takeaway works well.
Why? Because the takeaway is the key to the overall shape and tempo of your swing. Tempo is the speed of your swing. Actually, the time it takes you to complete your swing, from beginning to end. We all have a natural tempo. Try maintaining it when hitting a club, whether youre hitting a driver or a sand wedge.
Individual golf lessons emphasize discrete parts of your swing. Visualization can overcome this. It focuses you on the harmony of your swing. In fact, you should get in the habit of thinking, visualize to realize on every shot. Golfers with single digit golf handicaps do.

While many countries have a valid claim to an early game that resembles the game of golf, the origins of golf are without a doubt routed in Scotland’s past. The fact is, golf probably derived from other countries and stick and ball type games. However, while these are stick and ball games, they are missing that vital ingredient that is unique to golf. The hole. It was the Scots who introduced the golf hole into the game we now call golf.
Over the centuries, golf has evolved into the game it is today. The first recognizable form being played in Scotland in the early 1400’s. Andrews, Scotland is the birthplace of the game golf. Originating on the east coast of Scotland, golf quickly became the Scots’ national pastime and passion, bound forever to Scotland’s history and people.
According to Scottish lore, the people of Scotland believes that Golf was invented by Scottish fishermen to amuse themselves on the way home from fishing.
In 1457 golf was banned in Scotland because it interfered with the practice of archery, which was vital to the defense effort. The ban on golf had been issued in a time when Scotland was preparing to defend itself from the English. Scotland can say that they are the founding fathers in regards to the oldest golf course. It was in
Scotland that the passion for golf came alive. There is general agreement among historians and golf fans alike that the Scots were the first golfers who became somewhat addicted and passionate about the sport. In the very early days of golf, each golf group in Scotland produced their own and unique rules, which was sometimes the cause for interesting discussions. Golf is still a very popular game today in Scotland today.
The game of golf soon spread to areas outside of Scotland. In one form or another, the variant games of present day golf were clearly enjoyed throughout Europe in the Middle Ages. In fact in seventeenth century Dutch landscapes commonly show golf being played on ice. The game of golf began its destiny in time towards becoming popular around the world.

Men’s golf shoes have really come a long way. There is virtually no reason why a golfer of any level should be without a pair. A lot of golfers today own a pair of mens golf shoes because they understand the positive impact a good pair of shoes can provide on their game. Prices may be important, but keep in mind that an avid golfer walks several miles in a golf season, so make sure you invest in a pair of mens golf shoes that fits you properly. There are a variety of brand names to choose from such as FOOTJOY, DEXTER, ETONIC and OAKLEY for those who prefer a sportier shoe. Remember when you used to play miniature golf and putters looked like, well, like putters? Today that has all changed. Putters today look like something that came from a futuristic outer space society. So with all the different shapes and styles of putters to choose from the question becomes, “which putter do I get?” This article won’t try to answer that question because everyone’s game is different but what this article will do is give you information on some of the putters you’re likely to find out there on the market today, explain the differences, and hopefully from there you can make an informed decision.
What most golfers don’t seem to understand is that they spend most of their time checking out stats for drivers and irons and don’t really concentrate their efforts in checking out the best putters for them. The majority of strokes they will take off their game will not come on the fairways but on the putting green. What follows are the most popular putters you will find today.
One of the most popular, and supposedly best putters on the market today, is the Odyssey White Hot 2 Ball Putter. What was unique about this putter when it first came out was its 2 ball alignment to help you visualize a straight line between you and the hole. There are 2 white circular disks on top of the putter head. All you have to do is line them up with the ball on the green and this will help you visually aim the putt to the hole. The club itself has a urethane face which improves accuracy and distance and a low center of gravity which reduces backspin on impact. In the hands of a pro this is an incredible club. It also sells for an incredible $169. Not for the beginning golfer.
Another popular club for a lot less money at $39 is the Pinemeadow Four Ball Putter. This is very similar to the Odyssey White Hot 2 Ball Putter except instead of a 2 ball alignment it features a 4 ball alignment. This club also comes with a low center of gravity. Because of the way the club is designed on short putts of 6 feet or less you don’t have to worry about the ball going long because of the softness of the club face. At least that’s what they claim. You’ll have to judge for yourself.
Then there are the wide putters like the Bionik 207. These putters are not like any other putters on the market. What makes them different from the other putters is the wide mallet body which is embedded with two weighted bars underneath which is supposed to greatly increase accuracy and make a greater allowance for an errant putt. The club itself has an aluminium body which makes it very light weight.
In our next article we are going to go over how to find the right drivers and woods for your game right from the material the club face is made of to the length of the club itself.

Sometimes, no matter how much you practice, perfecting your swing or even correcting small problems in your swing seems impossible. In this case, you might require golf swing instruction from a proeven if you have been playing for some time. Golf swing instruction will probably help you even more than you realize.
Golf pros are different from ordinary golfers. They have perfected their own game, and then they learned to study other peoples games to help them perfect their games. A golf pro knows that all golfers are different, and each one will have different needs to correct small problems. Pros are trained to help you correct those problems in ways designed just for you.
Finding golf pros is easy finding golf pros that are good is a little harder. Finding a golf pro that suits your particular needs can seem absolutely overwhelming but it doesnt have to be. There are certain steps to take to find a good golf pro. Dont just settle for the guy that works in your local pro shop.
First, ask your friends for recommendations. Find out where the pros are located, and if possible, watch them with their other students from a distance. How do they interact? Are they patient? Do they seem to know what they are doing, and what they are talking about? Visit your local pro shop, and ask about the pros that are available in the area. Dont worry about insulting the pro running the shop he probably no longer offers instruction anyway.
Most clubs have golf pros on staff. Follow the same protocol, and watch them from a distance, after the practice session that you watch, try to catch up with the golf student, and ask questions about the golf pros instructional skills, and ask specifically if they would recommend him. Ask them if there has been any improvement in their game since they started the lessons.
Ask for references and check them. If you havent had the opportunity to watch the pro in action on the course, ask to join a training session for observation purposes. Dont be alarmed if the pro says no to this it may simply be to protect the privacy of his or her clients. You might even offer to pay half of the hourly rate for the opportunity to watch them in action with another student.
Once youve started instruction with a golf pro, give it a few sessions to determine whether or not this is the right golf pro for you. Sometimes, people simply dont get along well. It may be that this particular golf pro cannot convey the concept to you in a way that you understand. If it isnt working out, dont be afraid to stop working with that particular pro, and start your search for another one. The current pro may be able to make a recommendation if you just explain the situation to them in a nice way.
Dont make the mistake of thinking that you can perfect your golf swing in just one or two sessions with a golf pro or even three or four, and maybe not even in ten sessions! Everyone learns at their own pace, and golf techniques take time to learn, and even more time to perfect. Also, really listen to what your golf pro is telling you. If you arent willing to listen, you are wasting your time, your money, and the pros time as well. Stay completely focused during your training sessions, and make sure that you put in the additional practice time that is recommended by your pro.
If you feel that you have been given quality golf swing instruction by your pro, dont be afraid to tip them, or offer them a bonus. This is a common practice, and many pros depend on tips a great deal. Treat your pro with respect they are not underlings. Failure to give proper respect to your pro may result in him or her walking off the job! Golf pros have a true love for the game and if you demonstrate that same feeling for the game, you may find that you receive superior instruction!

Call them the best of the best, the elite, or the Green Berets of U.S. golf cities.
The ten cities on this list all have one thing common. They occur on more top-ten golf destination lists than all other cities in the U.S. How do I know this? By way of research … lots of tedious, time-consuming but totally thorough research.
Building the Ultimate List
I began the process by gathering all the lists of popular U.S. golf destinations I could find. This journey led me from About.com to Golf Digest, from travel websites to sports websites and everything in between. I read lists by golfers, journalists, travelers and even historians.
The Envelope Please
When the dust settled, I had 15 lists of popular golf destinations in the country. Then I began cross-referencing to determine which cities occurred on the most lists. So here you have the best of the best … the elite … the ten most popular golf cities in the United States.
(I’ve listed these cities alphabetically, because anything else would have required way too much math.)
1. Hilton Head, South Carolina
The readers of Golf Digest put South Carolina’s Hilton Head Island at number 10 on a list of the world’s best resorts. Do I really need to say any more than that? Okay, here’s more. You can choose from more than 20 golf courses that wind around marshes, lakes and lagoons. For more information, visit www.GolfIsland.com.
2. Las Vegas, Nevada
Say “Las Vegas” to most people, and gambling usually comes to mind. But Las Vegas is also a premier golf destination with more than two-dozen courses. Popular choices include Reflection Bay, Royal Links and The Canyons. Just be mindful of the time of year — if you travel there in the summer, you can expect temperatures over 100. For more information, visit www.LasVegasGolf.com.
3. Maui, Hawaii
Aside from the lush beauty one normally associates with Maui, the Hawaiian island also offers the state’s only 54-hole courses, Wailea and Kapalua. According to VisitMaui.com, there’s plenty of availability to go around: “Although Maui hosts several well-known professional tournaments tee times are rarely hard to come by.” Learn more at www.VisitMaui.com.
4. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
I went on family trips to Myrtle Beach each year for over a decade. I recall how eager my siblings and I would be to play a round of Jungle Golf, miniature golf with all the animal props you could shake a club at. But Myrtle Beach has plenty of golf for “big kids,” too. Popular courses include The Legends, Grand Dunes, Wild Wing and Tidewater. Learn at www.MyrtleBeachGolf.com.
5. Orlando, Florida
Orlando conjures images of Disney World, Universal Studios and similar attractions. But it also attracts plenty of golfers to its more than 20 courses. Popular stops include Orange County National, Bay Hill and Disney. Where else can you golf with Mickey Mouse? Learn more at www.GolfOrlando.com.
6. Palm Springs, California
If you like the idea of golfing on lush green courses with plenty of palm trees and a backdrop of rugged mountains, Palm Springs is the place for you. Within the Coachella Valley, there are more than 100 courses. According to GolfDigest.com, “PGA West, La Quinta and Mission Hills North are the three big resorts in town.” Learn more at www.PalmSprings.com/golf.
7. Phoenix / Scottsdale, Arizona
I’m aware that Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona are two different cities. But they’re so close to one another and they appeared together on so many lists that I felt they deserved to share a spot in my top ten. The desert landscape alone is worth a trip. Add to that the abundance of world-class golf courses, and you have a desert paradise for any avid golfer. Learn more at www.AZgolf.org.
8. Pinehurst, North Carolina
Yes, we’re back in the Carolinas again. I’m not biased or anything the Carolinas just come up on a lot of lists. Pinehurst is both a resort and a village. The website PinehurstGolf.com explains: “Pinehurst, the resort, is a wonderful collection of historic hotels and eight world-class golf courses that is widely considered one of the top golf destinations in the world. Pinehurst, the Village, is a quaint New England style town” Learn more at www.PinehurstGolf.com.
9. San Diego, California
I lived in San Diego for three years, so I can vouch that the city is worth a visit. Whether you go for the golf, the sightseeing or a combination of the two, San Diego won’t disappoint. San Diego County has excellent weather year-round, allowing for plenty of golf days on any of the county’s 80+ golf courses. Torrey Pines and La Costa are popular stops. Learn more at www.SanDiegoGolf.com.
10. Williamsburg, Virginia
If you’re a history buff as well as a golfer, put Williamsburg, Virginia on this year’s trip roster. Colonial Williamsburg is a living history museum that lets you step back in time to the days of the Revolutionary War. And when you’re ready to step onto the green, you’ll find more than a dozen top-rated courses to accommodate you. Stonehouse, Royal New Kent and Kingsmill are popular stops. Learn more at www.GolfWilliamsburg.com.

At some time or other we reach the stage where using a golf cart becomes an experience and leaves us with the thought of someday purchasing one. I have played with those who use a cart for eighteen holes and also play another 9 holes for exercise. This is good if you have the time up your sleeve. None the less, golf carts are not only a time saver but come with a whole bunch of benefits that shouldn’t be over looked. Here some things you ought to know.
Golf carts are small vehicles, initially designed to carry the golfers and their equipment around the course with less effort and faster than walking. Now, they are used everywhere: airports, universities, warehouses, farms, etc. Coming as a mixture between hobby and utility, golf carts are also being purchased for personal use.
Golf carts are also referred to as golf cars, which is more technically correct, as carts are not self-propelled, or as utility vehicles, especially by the manufacturers who reserve the term for the vehicles used on the golf course.
Types of golf carts
If you are considering purchasing a golf cart, it is important to know exactly what youll be using it for.
If you want a cute low-pollution easy-to-drive vehicle in order to get around your neighborhood, you need a standard golf cart and you can choose from a large variety of accessories and options.
If you live in a locality where golf carts are street-legal, you can outfit the vehicle appropriate safety features( turn signals, brake lights, windshield, seatbelts, and headlights). There are communities that encourage the use of electric golf carts due to their lack of pollutants, lack of noise, and safety for pedestrians.
Another category of golf carts are the commercial and industrial vehicles and they are used in a variety of ways. They are used to carry tools, sod and fertilizer in office parks, cemeteries, sports complexes, etc. Foremen and managers use them for supervising the activities efficiently. Golf carts are also used in large farms or ranches, for carrying large loads.
Choosing the right golf cart
Before buying a golf cart, you have to gather information on your driving terrain, like: type of surfaces, hills, and weather. For instance, if you need it for use in a warehouse, a low horsepower vehicle is better as it is more economical. On the other hand, if you want to drive it on a hilly golf course, you need a much more powerful vehicle. You also have to estimate the physical size of the cart, the weight and the number of passengers you want it to carry. There are many brands to choose from, and as in all other fields, each manufacturer has its own strengths and weaknesses. The main manufacturers of golf carts are Club Car, EZ Go, and Yamaha. The better is to test drive the models you re considering and see how you like them.
Gas vs. Electric golf carts
Electric golf carts have an electric motor run by standard lead-acid batteries. The batteries are recharged by plugging into a standard power outlet. Power choices range from 24 volts to 72 volts, but the most common are 36 and 48 volt models. Electric vehicles are much more popular than the gasoline ones, because of their lack of pollutants, lack of noise, and their low cost to operate: it is five to ten times cheaper to operate in comparison to a gas model.
Gas-powered golf carts are still the top choice for some specific applications. They are a good choice for carrying heavy loads or for farming and hunting use.
Golf carts pricing
The prices for new golf carts vary between $4,000 for a bare bones model up to more than $10,000 for luxury models including fancy wheels, lights, upgraded upholstery radios and cell phones chargers.
If you are not willing to spend that much for a golf cart, but still want to purchase one, you must consider the option of buying a used one. They can be found for as little as $2,000. Golf courses need large numbers of golf carts and they always want them to be in top condition. They permanently exchange the used golf carts with new ones. This is why you can always find many used but good golf carts on the market.
If you are a golf player, you must certainly understand the pleasure and advantages of driving a quiet ,non-polluting vehicle such as the golf cart. But even if playing golf is not one of your passions, you must consider all the benefits that a golf cart might bring to you. It can help you a lot in your daily activities and it might also be the perfect way to relax and enjoy beautiful landscape views on the course.
