Direct to Consumer DVD Sales on the Rise
In the past all movies were made for the big screen because studios could only bring a certain amount of movies to theaters each year. After they left the big screen they would go straight to video and cable. Now things are much more different than they were in the past. VHSs are nearly dead and many studios are not only producing movies for theaters but they are also producing movies for direct to consumer sales. This trend, which has been growing over the last couple of years, is expected to hit its peak in the next few years. The reason is because consumers like to watch movies from the comfort of their own home. Furthermore, there are many things that studios can release on DVD that they can not show on television, such as uncensored footage from controversial television shows. It also allows studios to introduce quality entertainment at a lower cost.
It has lead to the development of several video series for children which they can take with them everywhere the go. Since DVDs where introduced they have been taken to new levels every year. From bringing back classic movies, to putting television shows on DVD, to netflix. It has to make everyone wonder what will be next in the world of DVDs.
