Do You Wish You Could Forget?
Have you ever had a tragic event in your life that you wish you could forget, literally erase that memory? Was it a former romance gone bad or a death of a friend? Perhaps battle scars on your memory from wars gone by? Is Data Dumping for Organic Brains Possible? We all know we can erase a word file or spread sheet on our computers and we often do, as they are no longer needed, just taking up valuable space.
Well what if you could do this in your organic brain? Would you choose to data dump certain memories? If you could, would you? Well it appears they have been able to erase memories in rats or well laboratory mice. This would mean that someday you could remove negative memories and thus you could choose to forget. Perhaps this means as we merge man and machine brain we can dump negative memories such as those, which cause Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome? This could be a very good thing indeed? Of course we also know that we can learn from our mistakes too and so perhaps we will choose not to and yet such an option might be nice. Consider the ramifications of this in future periods, as this science is still about 10-years out.
