Guide For Travelers To Jacksonville International Airport
Jacksonville Airport is situated 29km north of downtown Jacksonville in the sunshine state of Florida. It can be easily reached from the centre of Jacksonville by taking the I-95 to Airport Road (exit 363-B), and the westbound signposted route to the terminal. Road access from Georgia and St Augustine is also via the I-95.
Jacksonville Airport is known as the gateway to northeast Florida and southeast Georgia with fourteen major and regional airlines operating out of the airport offering over 200 daily flight arrivals and departures. The main terminal has a large courtyard with several bars and restaurants and a stage were local bands perform at the end of each month.
All of the ground transportation services including the car hire companies, taxis and limousines are located on the lower level of the terminal building adjacent to the baggage reclaim area. Gator City Taxis is the official taxi company serving the airport and Express Shuttle is a minibus service which takes passengers anywhere in Florida or Southeast Georgia.
There is no rail terminus at the airport, but you can take a bus transfer or taxi into downtown Jacksonville where you can make a connection to the nearest Amtrak Railway Station.
Long and short term car parking is available next to the terminal building, with economy parking lots located further away and linked by a free shuttle bus.
Jacksonville International Airport offers a Courtesy Waiting Lot for people picking up passengers which is located just beyond the Administration Building as you approach the terminal.
ATMs are available on the lower level after baggage reclaim and on the upper level before the security checkpoint in the arrivals area. There is a massage parlour, chapel, art gallery and video game arcade available at the airport, with Laptop Lane providing laptop connections and fax and photocopying facilities.
Jacksonville Airport is fully accessible with lifts connecting both levels and facilities for disabled customers. Passengers with special needs should contact their airline to arrange assistance. Wheelchairs are available and there are disabled toilets on all levels and concourses.There are a number of bars, coffee shops, restaurants and snack bars on the upper level courtyard and concourses at the airport. Jacksonville Airport has a book store, newsagents and gift shops, a luxury gifts store, leather shop and sunglasses outlets plus a PGA golf shop.
