Are you afraid to apply for a car loan because you have bad credit? While its true that people with bad credit tend to be turned down for car loans, there are ways around the technicalities to finance the car you want.
First, be honest with your dealer. Put them to the test by telling them upfront that you are concerned about your credit rating. If they tell you not to worry, you can believe they will do anything possible to get you the loan. Their objective, after all, is to sell you a car no matter what it takes. There are other things that you can do to help yourself get the loan, but first find a dealer who will do practically anything to get you in that vehicle.
If you find that you really want a certain car, you might need to consider having a co-signer, especially is the dealer sounds unwilling to help. Sometimes it's hard to find someone willing to take that risk for you. Some places require a co-signer if you have bad or no credit.
You might save yourself some time if you go to the dealer with a willing co-signer. Co-signers basically stick up for you and claim that you're a responsible person. As a word of caution, remember that co-signing puts their own credit rating in jeopardy if you don't pay the bill on time. Being responsible with the loan is the best way to pay back a co-signers generosity.
If you don't have a co-signer, you may want to ask your credit card company or bank for a personal loan. You can usually get approved through a credit card company without a co-signer, but the rates are going to be higher. Pay your regular credit card on time to be more eligible for these types of transactions. If you are a new member, however, they may not consider you a good risk. Dont try to get a personal loan through a credit card company until youve been with them for at least a year. During that time, you will have proven yourself responsible.
Anyone seeking a loan is a creditors liability. If you have bad credit, you're worse than just a liability; you're considered unworthy. You should expect to be turned down for at least one loan, but keep looking until you find someone who is willing to loan you money.
